Fred Lowery is the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of Bossier City, Louisiana. Known for its friendliness, sweetness and evangelistic zeal, First Bossier has over 7,000 members. He is a devoted family man husband to Leigh, father of two daughters and grandfather to four.

With a wonderful sense of humor, Dr. Fred goes straight to Gods word and offers fresh insight as he communicates the truth of Christianity in practical ways. To him, life's bottom line is faith, family and friends.

Dr. Fred has served as President of the Louisiana State Convention, President of the Southern Baptist Conventions Pastors Conference and as Vice President of the Southern Baptist Convention. He is author of several books including Making the Bible Clear, Starting Here, Starting Now, Home Improvement 101 and Covenant Marriage: Staying Together for Life.

The First Word, Dr. Fred's broadcast ministry, began in June, 1983 and for over ten years has been the top rated Sunday program in a tri-state area. The program is heard on various cable outlets around the country.
